The Pied Piper of Hamelin Story in English
Once upon a time, in a small village called Hamelin, there was a big problem. The village was infested with rats, and they were everywhere. The rats ate everything in sight, and the villagers were desperate to get rid of them. They tried everything from setting traps to poisoning them, but nothing seemed to work.
One day, a stranger came to the village. He was dressed in bright colors and had a pipe in his hand. He told the villagers that he was a rat catcher and that he could get rid of all the rats in the village. The villagers were skeptical at first, but the stranger insisted that he could do it.
The rat-catcher then took out his pipe and started playing a tune. To everyone’s surprise, all the rats in the village started following him. The rat-catcher led the rats out of the village and into a nearby river, where they all drowned.
The villagers were ecstatic that the rat problem was finally solved. But when they asked the rat-catcher for his payment, he asked for a large sum of money. The villagers were outraged and refused to pay him.
The rat-catcher then played another tune on his pipe, but this time it was a different tune. To the villagers’ horror, all the children in the village started following him. The rat-catcher led the children out of the village and into a cave, where they disappeared.
The villagers realized their mistake and begged the rat catcher to bring back their children. The rat-catcher then played yet another tune, and the children reappeared from the cave unharmed.
The villagers were grateful and paid the rat-catcher the amount he had asked for. From that day on, the village of Hamelin never saw a rat again, and they all lived happily ever after.
