The Goose with the Golden Eggs Story
Once upon a time, there lived a poor farmer and his wife. They had a goose that laid an egg every day. One day, they were surprised to find a golden egg in the nest instead of the usual white one. The farmer and his wife were thrilled to see their luck change and soon became very rich as the goose kept laying one golden egg every day.
However, greed overtook them, and they wanted to get all the golden eggs at once. So, one day, the farmer’s wife suggested that they kill the goose to get all the golden eggs. The farmer hesitated, but the wife convinced him that there must be a whole bunch of golden eggs inside the goose, and it was the only way to get them all.
So, they decided to kill the goose. They were surprised to find no golden eggs inside the goose, only flesh and blood. The farmer and his wife realized their mistake but it was too late. They had killed the goose that laid the golden eggs and lost their source of wealth forever.
The moral of the story is that greed can lead to one’s downfall, and it is essential to be content with what we have.
